Weft vs Tape Extensions: Which Is Right for You?

If you are researching hair extensions, you have probably narrowed it down to wefts or tapes. Both can look beautiful. The difference is how they live with you between appointments, and that is where most people pick the wrong one.
How each method works
Tape extensions are thin panels taped either side of small sections of your hair, refitted roughly every six to eight weeks. Weft extensions are a continuous curtain of hair secured to a discreet track, moved up on a similar schedule but with far fewer attachment points.
Comfort and day-to-day life
Wefts win on lifestyle for most people. One or two rows mean ponytails, gym sessions and sleep are simpler, and brushing takes minutes. Tapes suit finer hair beautifully but need more care with oils, conditioner placement and heat near the tabs.
Hair health
Fitted correctly, both methods are safe. Fitted badly, both can damage. Wefts spread weight across a track rather than individual tabs, which is why By Willow fits wefts exclusively, always after a consult that checks your hair is a good candidate first.
Cost over a year
Tapes often look cheaper upfront but need re-taping and eventually replacing. Quality weft hair typically lasts nine to twelve months or more, with the same wefts refitted at each move-up. Over a year the totals land closer than most people expect, with wefts usually ahead on quality-for-dollar.
The short answer
Choose wefts if you want thickness, an active lifestyle and the most natural feel in longer hair. Consider tapes if your hair is very fine and a specialist recommends them for your density. Either way, start with a consult and a colour match before you commit to anything.
